If a member of our Development (or Support) Team purchased a domain name for you, you are always able to transfer it to another registrar at any point in the future.
There is absolutely no fee to have us release your domain name to you. You always own your own domain name, whether we purchased it on your behalf or not.
That being said, we do recommend keeping your domain registered with Brighter Vision while your website is being hosted by us. If you transfer your domain away from Brighter Vision, our Support Team will no longer have access to your domain’s settings and, therefore, won’t be able to assist with troubleshooting issues you may experience in the future with your website, email, etc.
Step 1. Request your domain release
Begin by sending an email to our Support Team at support@brightervision.com asking to have your domain name released to you so that you can transfer it to another registrar. Please be sure to include your domain name in this email.
As soon as you’ve submitted your request, you should receive a similar confirmation message shortly to let you know it was received to our support desk:
Step 2. Access your domain
A member of our Support Team will then complete the necessary steps to initiate the release of your domain name from Brighter Vision’s registrar account.
Shortly after the release has been initiated, you will receive an email from our registration software which will include your new individual account’s login username, as well as a password reset link.
You will also receive a second email from our registration software containing your domain’s transfer authorization code:
Once you have used the link from the first email to reset the password and have access to your domain name, you can use the transfer authorization code (EPP code) provided in the second email to move your domain to a new registrar of your choice.
In accordance with ICANN rules:
- You cannot transfer a domain within 60 days of purchase. Learn more here.
- If you change your registrant contact information, your domain is locked from transfer for 60 days. Learn more here.
